Two exciting guest lectures were recently held as part of the Financial Management and Controlling (FMC) and Taxation and Consulting (SB) Master's degree programs at THI Business School. Both lectures were given by experts from the world-renowned auditing and consulting firm PwC and offered students valuable insights into current topics in the world of tax and accounting.
In Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Zellner's module “International Tax Planning”, Daniela Stäger, Director at PwC in Munich, gave a lecture on the “new world tax order”. She explained the fundamental changes to the international tax landscape resulting from two new pillars (Pillar I and Pillar II). The aim is to ensure that large corporations pay a minimum level of tax on their income in every country in which they operate (Pillar I) and that they pay at least 15% tax (Pillar II). In addition, Ms. Stäger provided practical insights into the challenges of day-to-day tax consulting, particularly with regard to topics such as transfer pricing and corporate transactions.
Julia Grabmeyer, Senior Manager at PwC in Munich, spoke about the new accounting standard “IFRS 18” in the lecture “International Accounting and Auditing”, also under the direction of Prof. Dr. Zellner. She highlighted the effects on the income statement and the resulting changes to internal processes, charts of accounts and key figures. A particular highlight was the demonstration of an AI tool that PwC uses to automatically analyze the effects of the standard on companies.
Lectures like these offer students important practical relevance and are an essential part of studying at THI Business School.
