THI has a Gender Equality Plan and an equality concept (pdf) and has developed a diversity mission statement in a university-wide process. The equality of all genders (d/f/m), the increase of the proportion of women among teachers and students, the visibility of women in research and teaching, and respectful and appreciative interaction with one another are defined as central goals.

THI's measures on the topic of equality and diversity
Since October 2019, THI has been a member of the ‘Family in Higher Education’ charter. The aim is to further develop family-friendly working conditions for university employees and family-friendly study conditions for students.
In 2022, the Diversity Charter for Diversity in the world of work was signed by our President and by the Minister of State and Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration, Reem Alabali-Radovan. Further information on the Diversity Charter can be found at https://www.charta-der-vielfalt.de/.
In addition to numerous established measures that facilitate the balancing act between family and career/family and academic study, the university offers a counselling service for all members of the university. The personal living and working circumstances of families are becoming increasingly complex; it is no longer enough to offer ready-made solutions. Instead, individualised support is provided in a personal meeting.
An overview of the counselling and support services offered by THI to help reconcile the demands of work, academic study and family life can be found on the subpages of the Equality and Diversity section.
