Focus on the Future: THI at Science Week at Hallertau Gymnasium

How do you imagine the world in 50 years? Will we be living in megacities, communicating with AI, or practicing completely new professions? And how do these future visions differ from those of previous generations? Dr. Gerhard Schönhofer addressed these questions with pupils from Hallertau Gymnasium Wolnzach.

This year's Science Week at Bavarian grammar schools began with an exciting opening lecture. Dr. Gerhard Schönhofer, scientific project coordinator of the ‘Future’ transfer room in the BMBF-funded knowledge transfer project ‘Mensch in Bewegung’, kicked off the event at Hallertau Gymnasium Wolnzach.

In his lecture ‘Was the future better in the past? Futures research between yesterday, today, and tomorrow, he worked with the students to shed light on the contexts in which futures research originated, the methods and possibilities of futures research - a key topic at the Bavarian Foresight Institute at Technischen Hochschule Ingolstadt. Interactively and practically, Schönhofer showed how forecasts about the future are made and what role they play in science, business, and society.

This kick-off event marks the beginning of a week full of exciting insights into various scientific fields. The event took place as part of the ‘Mensch in Bewegung’ program. ‘Mensch in Bewegung’ is a joint project of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt and the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and is funded by the “Innovative University” initiative, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Joint Science Conference GWK.
