Set-up Phase SAFIR: Safety for all – Innovative Research Partnership on Global Vehicle and Road Safety Systems

The SAFIR research partnership has linked Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences with more than 20 partners from industry and public institutions during the set-up phase from 2017 to 2021 to take road safety to a new level. In the process, THI was selected from more than 80 applicants and is thus one of ten universities selected throughout Germany in the funding line "Strong Universities of Applied Sciences - Impulse for the Region (FH-Impuls)". The research program is embedded in the CARISSMA research and test center and will be continued in the intensification phase since 2021.

The overall societal guiding goal of CARISSMA as well as SAFIR is to achieve "Vision Zero".

The four principles of Vision Zero are:

  •     Life is non-negotiable.
  •     The human being is fallible.
  •     The tolerable limits lie in the physical resilience of humans.
  •     People have a right to a safe traffic system and a safe working environment.
