After a very successful start last semester, the practical seminar "The material journey through everyday life" was also held in English this time.
On the first day of the seminar, the programme included experiments such as "silvering" and "gilding" cents, electroplating the THI logo and the chemical analysis of shredded scrap parts. On the second day, coins were microscoped and a lawnmower engine was disassembled into its individual parts and its materials analysed. The resulting light microscope images were once again turned into impressive, large-format collages modelled on paintings by renowned artists in the practical seminar held by Prof. Kerschenlohr and Prof. Oberhauser. It's worth taking a look at the artworks in front of the materials technology lab C102!
